Each cell uses a different system emoji font. If a vendor's font is not installed on your device, the browser falls back — so on iOS most cells will look the same, while on Linux/Windows you'll see real differences.
Unicode defines what each emoji means, not what it lookslike. Each operating system or platform ships its own emoji font and is free to interpret the design — that's why the iOS 🥺 has soft, watery eyes while the Android version has flatter, drawing-like ones.
That's also why a friend on a Pixel may see a tofu box ▢ for an emoji you just added: Unicode 15.1 or 16.0 emoji may not have shipped to their OS yet. Check the newest emoji for OS support status.
